This recording contains three absolutely amazing and stunning piano
transcriptions! Igor Khulodey, famous Russian pianist and composer,
wrote in 1988 his Boris Godunov suite, after Mussorgsky’s opera. This
fresco‐like work conjures up the tale of Boris, a Russian tragedy, the
rich orchestral textures captured in larger than life pianism of
unprecedented invention and difficulty, the bell scenes magnificently
caught. The excitement and thrill of Mussorgsky’s orchestral work
Night on Bald Mountain is superbly maintained in Khulodey’s brilliant
transcription, a pianistic tour de force of the highest order.
Tchaikovsky’s Romeo Juliet is transcribed by Florian Noack, as fresh
and colourful as the original.
