This new recording presents the first books of both the Preludes and the Images, works in which Debussy found his mature piano style, full of unheard colours, atmospheres and perfumes, each with a descriptive title, but even without the title pure creations of imagination and craftsmanship. Alessandra Ammara is one of the finest Italian pianists of today. She boasts of an impressive discography. Her affinity with the French impressionist music is confirmed by her extraordinary recording of Ravel’s piano works: “…superfine pianism..uncanny insight…scintillating and witty…magically evocative..fascinating and personally engaging..” [Gramophone]. Born in Florence in 1972, Alessandra Ammara studied with Roberto Caglieri, Maria Tipo, Paul Badura‐Skoda, Franco Scala, Boris Petrushansky, Vitaly Margulis, Fou Ts’ong, WIlliam Grant Naborè. Her international career started in 2000, when she was one of the three top prize winners at the Esther Honens competition in Calgary. She also won major prizes in other piano competitions, like the Casagrande, Viotti and Iturbi. Alessandra Ammara performed at Musikverein in Wien, at Festspielhaus in Salzburg, at Philharmonie in Berlin and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Her debut in Washington was enthisiastically reviewed on the Washington Post. Since 1999, she forms a piano duet with her husband Roberto Prosseda. In May 2013, after some years dedicated to the family and her two young children, Alessandra Ammara has come back in the international concert career.
